It enables you to create new work items, link them to an existing Outlook email, create custom work item types in TFS and Visual Studio Team Services, track the current state of previous work items and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> Before you begin reading, we would like to highlight that this quick start guide can also be used for <a href=\"https:\/\/getalmo.com\/\">Almo<\/a>, our latest product that integrates <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.azure.com\">Azure DevOps Service<\/a> and Microsoft Outlook. If you are using Azure DevOps Service, we recommend downloading Almo.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s how you can quickly set up TMO:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"A quick start to working with Almo\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8k4nHOvyWNU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add Work Item Types to TMO Settings<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To create a work item, go to the TMO toolbar and choose the \u2018Open Settings\u2019 option. A dialogue box will open. It will display a list of work item types you can work with. You can also add new work item types by clicking \u2018Add\u2019 and\/or delete the existing ones by selecting the \u2018Remove\u2019 option.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-432 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/getalmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Settings-Screen-1-1024x510.jpg\" alt=\"This screen shows various settings in TMO that a user can set. A user can specify what work item types they want to work with on this screen.\" width=\"640\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Connect to a TFS Server or Azure DevOps<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b\u200bClick the \u2018Connect to TFS\u2019 option in the TMO toolbar. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-433 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/getalmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Connect-To-DevOps-Menu.jpg\" alt=\"Click the connect to devops button to connect to TFS\" width=\"257\" height=\"95\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, press \u2018Servers,\u2019 enter the server URL and press \u2018Ok.\u2019 Authentification is required in some cases. Once that is done, another dialogue box with Team Projects will open. Select one Team Project from the list and click \u2018Connect\u2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/getalmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Almo-Connect-to-Azure-DevOps-window.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-434 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/getalmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Almo-Connect-to-Azure-DevOps-window.jpg\" alt=\"Use the Almo's Add New Server Window to add the Azure DevOps Organisation you want to connect to then select the projects you want to work with\" width=\"436\" height=\"593\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create and Save a Work Item<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on the email you want to associate with a work item and select the \u2018New or Find\u2019 option from the TMO toolbar. This will open a dropdown menu with the work item type. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gotmo.co.uk\/blog\/tmo-finds-existing-workitems-in-tfs-or-visual-studio-team-services\/\"><b>You can also select existing work items<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-435 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/getalmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Almo-Select-Work-Item-Type.jpg\" alt=\"Use the New or Find menu to create a new work item type from Outlook using TMO.\" width=\"311\" height=\"145\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the work item type and TMO will pick up important information from the email and pre-populate fields in the work item type.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/getalmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/main-Work-item-form-all-enabled.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-373 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/getalmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/main-Work-item-form-all-enabled-300x262.jpg\" alt=\"The main work item form shows all the fields you can populate using TMO and Outlook\" width=\"300\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pro tip: you can modify this behaviour by using <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/gotmo.co.uk\/blog\/templates-in-tmo\/\"><b><i>Templates<\/i><\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, click \u2018Save\u2019 and TMO will create the work item.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TMO will automatically attach a copy of the email and other related attachments to the work item it creates.
